Westermanns Monatshefte was a German cultural magazine, which was published monthly from October 1856, first under the title Westermann's illustrated German monthly magazines. A family book for the entire intellectual life of the present published by George Westermann in Braunschweig. The last issue was published in February 1987. The monthly magazines were aimed at the middle class; they contained advance copies of various contemporary literary and artistic works, one third of the content consisted of general cultural topics, geographical or scientific articles and novellas, and a focus on fiction.
