French fish bowl / ashtray made of majolica - Vallauris around 1960.
When Picasso stayed in Vallauris in the 1950s, the town became the capital of ceramics in France, as the Spaniard encouraged many new artists to come here to learn this craft. During this time, extremely artistic objects were created, often with a maritime connection. The glaze is unique and stands out clearly from the mass-produced goods that are offered there today.
Found in a small antique shop in southern France.
Style: 50s, 60s and 70s
Dimensions: L 21.5 cm x W 14.5 cm x H 5 cm
