Tax included. Shipping calculated at checkout
This label belongs to a crate of pears of the brand Our Pick, Loomis Fruit Growers Association, Loomis, California. It dates from the 1930s and is in perfect condition. Its authenticity is guaranteed.
Backgrounds: These labels were glued to the ends of wooden crates filled with oranges, lemons, apples, and other fruits and vegetables. These colorful crates were shipped nationwide by railroad to be sold at local markets. The packers and growers ordered the labels from printing companies that specialized in this work and that employed large numbers of commercial artists. The artists were not well paid and rarely received credit for their work. Most commercial use of labels ended during World War II due to raw material rationing and shortages. The cardboard box was adapted for shipping fruit, and labels were almost completely phased out by the 1950s.
Tip: Frame it and hang it in the kitchen. An extraordinary and individual eye-catcher.
Style: 1930s and 1940s
Dimensions: 18.5 x 28 cm
