A hand-colored lithograph after a drawing from La Mode Illustree . Framed with a passe-partout.

The fashion lithographs of La Mode Illustrée were a central part of the French fashion magazine published between 1860 and 1937. Each issue contained high-quality hand-colored lithographs depicting the latest fashion styles and often depicting scenes from social life. The lithographs were created by artists such as Héloïse Colin and Adele-Anaïs Toudouze , who came from artistic families. La Mode Illustrée was aimed at the middle and working classes and, in addition to illustrations, offered sewing patterns, household tips, and cultural content. It was a pioneer in the field of fashion publications and helped establish Paris as a center of fashion.
