Wafers and scraps album from around 1880-1900: 28 pages with over 320 wafers and scraps in various sizes and shapes. Super rare and worth collecting. Old pink fabric cover with embossed spine and cover titles as well as colored cover illustration and gold-embossed Art Nouveau ornamentation.
Interesting facts: Glossy pictures, also called wafers, are colored, often embossed paper pictures that were produced using the chromolithography process. They have been used since the 19th century as decoration for poetry albums, letters or Christmas trees. Glossy pictures with glitter were particularly popular. They were collected and exchanged because their variety and aesthetic appeal awakened dreams and nostalgia. The boom began around 1870 thanks to inexpensive mass production. Today they are nostalgic collector's items and rarely appear.
ATTENTION: Due to the variety, only a fraction of the images included are shown in the product images. The topics covered are diverse and include around 320 different wafers!
