This magnificent pair of antique andirons dates from the 19th century in France and was made in the opulent Rococo style. The artistic decorations with curved rocailles reflect the elegance and playfulness of this era. Made from solid cast brass, the andirons impress with their detailed design and their warm, golden shine, which still sets elegant accents today.
Originally, andirons were used to raise logs in the fireplace, improving air circulation and allowing the fire to burn more efficiently. However, they not only served a practical purpose, but were also representative elements that made the fireplace appear even more impressive as the centerpiece of a room. With a total depth of 32 cm, they were intended for a relatively small fireplace.
Decoration idea: Even without an open fireplace, these andirons can be stylishly displayed! Place them on a shelf as artistic bookends. In modern living spaces, they provide an exciting contrast and give any ambience a touch of historical luxury. Alternatively, they can be used to frame an arrangement with thick pillar candles in a cozy corner of the room to create atmospheric lighting with nostalgic charm.
